PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnnie Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yve Braud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Braud has chosen "Here Comes the Hammer" by M.C. Hammer as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danga de danga de dang - Braud scores with a four punch combination!
Walker looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Walker shoots in looking for a takedown. Braud tries to sprawl out of it but Walker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Braud manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Braud closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Braud seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Walker has hold of Braud's hands but Braud slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Braud connects with a nice short shot to Walker's temple.

Johnnie Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Braud thuds his right hand into Walker's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

and Braud decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Walker's guard.

Walker has his foot on Braud's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Braud works his way back into a safe position though.

Walker had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Braud is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Walker Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Braud's back instead.

Walker is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Braud is defending well though. Walker let's go of the attempt for now.

Braud breaks Walker's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Walker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Braud manages to get himself to full guard.

Walker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Braud can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Walker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Braud gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Braud decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
