Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lupe Gill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anand Pawar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lupe Gill has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lupe Gill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anand Pawar!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pawar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gill was covering up waiting for the punch and Pawar finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Pawar trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gill's guard.
Pawar trying to control but Gill is working from the bottom.

Gill looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Gill is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pawar tries to free his leg and advance position but Gill is retaining full guard.
Pawar wants to stand but Gill is controlling his posture from full guard.
Pawar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gill works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Gill has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pawar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gill can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pawar controls the pace.
Gill knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pawar on the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Anand Pawar hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pawar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gill manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Anand Pawar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gill has an active guard here but Pawar has managed to pass into half guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Pawar has eaten all the pies!

Pawar thows a huge punch but Gill dodges it nicely.

Pawar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gill doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pawar.
Pawar wants to pass the guard but Gill is defending well.
Pawar wants to stand but Gill has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Gill is trying to control but Pawar manages to pass to mount!

Poor strikes thrown by Pawar there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Pawar lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Gill sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pawar seems to be looking for submissions.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pawar is looking to take a break and control but Gill is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pawar fails with an attempt to clinch.

Pawar manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gill on his heels. He'll look to pass Gill's guard now, I'm sure.

Gill controls Pawar momentarily but Pawar frees himself.
Gill really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pawar closes the distance and pushes Gill back into the cage.

Pawar closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gill's guard.
Gill pulls Pawar in close to his closed guard and prevents Pawar from doing any damage or advancing position.

Pawar has gone for a leg lock! Gill slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pawar's guard.

Pawar might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Gill haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Anand Pawar was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Gill uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pawar.
Pawar takes a swing at Gill's ribcage but misses.
Gill is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Pawar moves into range and clinches up with Gill.

Gill manages to break the clinch.

Gill closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Gill escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pawar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Anand Pawar wasn't active enough on the ground.

Pawar shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pawar showed some decent athleticism there.
Pawar wants to take a breather but Gill is having none of it.
Pawar is looking to advance position but Gill won't allow it.
Pawar blocks the strikes from Gill.

Pawar is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gill has managed to free his arm - good work.

Pawar is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Pawar wants the takedown. Gill is fighting it off but Pawar persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Gill's guard against the cage.

Anand Pawar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Pawar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
