The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kawashima throws a jab when Pummel was well out of range.

Kawashima throws a leg kick but Pummel sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Pummel walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and Kawashima connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Kawashima uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pummel.
Kawashima tried to score with a low kick but Pummel checks it.
Kawashima takes a swing at Pummel's ribcage but misses.
Kawashima pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Pummel misses with a hook. Kawashima ducked under it nicely.

Pummel feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kawashima's calf.

and Pummel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kawashima is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Kawashima throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pummel takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Pummel tries to work over Kawashima's front leg with a kick but Kawashima checks it.
Pummel misses with a low kick.
Kawashima tries to move into range but Pummel moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Pummel lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kawashima is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Kawashima swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Pummel takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Pummel ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Kawashima fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kawashima fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pummel has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Kawashima drops Pummel with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Pummel! Kawashima dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
