Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Trish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Trish has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jay Pettis's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Trish!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trish swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Pettis counters with a two punch combo.
Trish lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pettis circles away quickly and effectively.

Trish has Pettis up against the cage in a clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Pettis has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Pettis is looking to break free of the clinch but Trish has double underhooks.

Trish jumps guard and drags Pettis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Pettis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pettis throws a big elbow that misses.
Pettis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Trish works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pettis is looking to work some ground and pound but Trish has wrist control.
Pettis throws a strike but Trish rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Trish controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Trish tries to free his leg and advance position but Pettis is retaining full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Trish lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Trish prevents Pettis from getting back to his feet.
Trish throws a strike but Pettis rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Pettis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Trish is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pettis, into his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Trish is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Trish must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Trish working over Pettis with some ground and pound. Pettis looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Pettis wants to stand back up but Trish manages to pass into side control.

Pettis stops Trish from passing to mount.

Trish tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Trish has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Trish decides to stand back up. Trish steps back and let's Pettis get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Trish gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Pettis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Jay Pettis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Trish moves into the clinch.

Trish turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Trish is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Pettis will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Let's hope that Trish has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Trish has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Pettis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pettis wants it to stay on the feet.
Trish throws a sloppy head kick and Pettis moves out of range easily.

Trish lands a jab-cross combination.
Trish tries for a takedown but Pettis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jay Pettis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Trish.

Trish is looking to clinch but Pettis is avoiding it.

Trish closes the distance and clinches.

Trish manages to break the clinch.
Pettis leaves Trish with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pettis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pettis wants it to stay on the feet.
Trish is breathing heavily.

Trish lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pettis circles away quickly and effectively.

Pettis gets tackled into the cage by Trish. Trish maintains the clinch.

Trish has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Pettis regains guard immediately.
Pettis wants to stand and escape but Trish is having none of it.

Trish is sitting in close to Pettis's body. Pettis has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Trish is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Trish is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Pettis.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jay Pettis!
