Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Akbar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Better (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Better has chosen Mother by Danzig as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hunter Akbar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evan Better!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Better closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Better is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Akbar is just riding it out for now. Better eventually gives up the hold.

Better is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Akbar as he works his way to full guard.
Better won't allow Akbar to sweep him here.
Better with a flurry of punches that miss.
Better trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Akbar is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Akbar is looking for a triangle but Better pushes his legs off easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Better postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akbar trying to control the position.
Akbar throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Better working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Akbar's head.
Better scoring with some ground and pound.
Better wants to control from the top but Akbar keeps moving.
Akbar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Better's guard.
Better wants to get back to his feet but Akbar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Better working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Akbar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Akbar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Akbar is looking to work some ground and pound but Better has wrist control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Better utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Akbar connects with a couple of short punches.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Akbar postures up.
Better is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Better can't keep his opponent in guard - Akbar advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Better wants to improve his position but Akbar is controlling well.

Akbar seems to be working for a kimura but Better defends the submission attempt.
Better tries to kick Akbar off but Akbar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Akbar missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Akbar winds up and cracks Better with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Better wants to get back to full guard.
Akbar tries to pass to full mount but Better defends it.

Akbar is working for a submission of some sort.
Akbar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Better defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hunter Akbar will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Akbar shoots in looking for a takedown but Better manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Akbar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Better throws a shot to the body.
Akbar looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Better darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Akbar is trying to maintain the position but Better is very close to passing his half guard.
Akbar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Better is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Better wants to work for an arm triangle but Akbar is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Akbar gets back to full guard.
Akbar controls Better momentarily but Better frees himself.
Better trying to control the position from guard on top but Akbar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akbar thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Hunter Akbar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Better makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Better stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Akbar has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Better manages to get his head free but now Akbar has transitioned to an armbar! Better grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Akbar! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Hunter Akbar!
A very excited looking Hunter Akbar made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
Evan Better spoke after the fight, saying 'Lucky, lucky, lucky.'.
