Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Greg Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rorion Joaquin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rorion Joaquin!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joaquin misses with a takedown

and Dixon counters with a shoot takedown. Joaquin fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Dixon lands a couple of digs.
Dixon with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dixon connects with a nice short shot to Joaquin's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dixon has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Joaquin uses from the top position.

Dixon has gone for a leg lock! Joaquin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Dixon's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Dixon shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Joaquin's guard.
Dixon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Dixon has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dixon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Joaquin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Joaquin is not content to let Dixon control the position.
Dixon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Joaquin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Dixon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well Dixon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
