Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Kovac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Daniel Kovac had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maynard misses with a two punch combination.
Maynard fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kovac with a nice cross.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kovac looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A jab from Maynard does it's job there.
Kovac throws a sloppy head kick and Maynard moves out of range easily.
Maynard fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Maynard counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kovac thinking.

Kovac fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maynard manages to avoid it.
Maynard circles away from the clinch attempt.

Maynard gets a double leg takedown into Kovac's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kovac trying to keep a closed guard but Maynard is proving a slippery customer.
Maynard passes Kovac's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Maynard seems to be working for a kimura but Kovac defends the submission attempt.
Maynard is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Maynard tries to control but Kovac wriggling away.
Kovac is bucking up trying to escape but Maynard cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Maynard has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Will Maynard decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
