Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benji Hidori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Irvin McCormick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hidori comes to the cage accompanied by allejandro. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 11 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Benji Hidori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Irvin McCormick!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hidori throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. McCormick tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hidori is in McCormick's guard.
Hidori wants to stand but McCormick is controlling his posture from full guard.
Hidori stops McCormick from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hidori forces his way into half guard.
Hidori is trying to control. McCormick wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCormick wants to get back to his feet.
Hidori is pressing down on McCormick's thigh, looking to free his foot. McCormick is holding on for now.
McCormick looks like he's trying to stand up.
McCormick scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Hidori manages to mount him!
Hidori breaks from McCormick's wrist control and lands an elbow.
McCormick looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCormick is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hidori throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for McCormick because Hidori loaded up on that one.
Hidori wants to control the pace but McCormick is squirming around nicely.
McCormick wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Hidori.
You get the feeling that McCormick really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hidori thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
McCormick is squirming around, avoiding Hidori's attempts to control the action.

Hidori is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McCormick is surviving well by controlling Hidori's body position as best he can.

McCormick wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Hidori content just to control the position here.
McCormick really wants to buck Hidori off and get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hidori tries to control but McCormick wriggling away.
McCormick trying desperately to get to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Benji Hidori seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McCormick smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Hidori shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McCormick defends it nicely.

Hidori has closed the distance and engaged McCormick in a clinch.
McCormick wants to get back to striking at distance but Hidori won't allow it.

Hidori's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
McCormick connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hidori. Hidori circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Horrible takedown by Hidori or perhaps it was just good defense by McCormick which made him look bad.

Hidori misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hidori looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Irvin McCormick is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hidori misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hidori rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling McCormick to counter with a crisp jab.
McCormick slaps away a takedown attempt from Hidori, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hidori fails to land the takedown.
McCormick scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
This has been an exciting period of action!
McCormick tests Hidori's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Hidori looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McCormick is fending him off so far but Hidori persists. Nope, McCormick circles away and we're back to standing.

A left and a right from McCormick both land. Nice combination.
McCormick scores with a punch to the head.
McCormick shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hidori eats them both and turns towards McCormick to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Hidori finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
McCormick connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hidori momentarily.
Hidori takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
McCormick catches Hidori with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Hidori shoots in for a double leg but McCormick sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
McCormick throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hidori ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McCormick moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McCormick stalks Hidori and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hidori's face. Hidori staggers backwards, shaken.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hidori fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
McCormick scores with a nice right hand.
McCormick moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Hidori misses with a straight left.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hidori throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Hidori fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Irvin McCormick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


McCormick fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Hidori fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McCormick manages to avoid it.
Hidori doesn't manage to clinch there - McCormick circles away.
Hidori fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hidori tries to score a power double leg takedown but McCormick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hidori somewhat.
McCormick avoids the head kick by Hidori.
Hidori gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Donk. McCormick catches Hidori right on the button with a cross.

McCormick dips to his left and cracks Hidori with an uppercut!
McCormick misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hidori shoots for a double leg takedown but McCormick sprawls well. He's pushed Hidori's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benji Hidori. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McCormick dips to his left and cracks Hidori with an uppercut!
Danga de danga de dang - McCormick scores with a four punch combination!
McCormick is looking to chop away at Hidori's legs.
McCormick feints a jab promting Hidori to slip. McCormick then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hidori slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

McCormick avoids the head kick by Hidori.

Hidori shoots in for a takedown but McCormick shows good takedown defense.
McCormick dips to his left and cracks Hidori with an uppercut!
Hidori fails in his attempt to clinch.
McCormick keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McCormick lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by McCormick.
Hidori tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McCormick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Hidori looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
McCormick throws a series of punches but Hidori moves out of range.

McCormick connects with a right hand. Hidori shakes it off.
Irvin McCormick seems to be getting the better of the standup.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hidori looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
McCormick throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Hidori misses with a body shot.
McCormick scores with a decent looking hook.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hidori is defended easily by McCormick.
Hidori goes for a double leg but McCormick avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McCormick continues to drive forward.

McCormick gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hidori.
Hidori wants to break the clinch but can't.
McCormick is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Hidori has McCormick pressed against the cage, preventing McCormick from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McCormick tries to break free but Hidori pushes him back against the cage.
McCormick is looking to break free of the clinch but Hidori has double underhooks.

Irvin McCormick comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McCormick has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
