Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hollis Doyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vince Villalba!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villalba gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Doyle counters with a takedown into side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Villalba avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Doyle.
Villalba tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Doyle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Doyle misses with the ground and pound.
Doyle remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Doyle in side control, throwing shots but Villalba defends.
Doyle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Villalba, who protects the arm well.
Doyle is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Villalba is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Doyle working the strikes but Villalba uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
Villalba flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Doyle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Villalba on the ground.
Doyle is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Villalba is just riding it out for now. Doyle eventually gives up the hold.
Doyle stalling away here and it's allowed Villalba to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Doyle throws a big elbow that misses.
Villalba looking to hit a scissor sweep but Doyle is one step ahead there.
Villalba keeping moving, preventing Doyle from controlling successfully.
Doyle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Villalba preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Villalba working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Doyle.

Villalba throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Villalba is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Doyle has his hands clasped together but Villalba extends and breaks Doyle's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Villalba.
