Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Guigui Borgne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roman Burza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burza has chosen Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle as his entrance music. Roman Burza has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 37 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Guigui Borgne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roman Burza!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borgne shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Burza defends it nicely.
Borgne fails with the takedown
and Burza counters with an inside leg kick.
Burza keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guigui Borgne. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Burza is nestled in close to Borgne, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Burza takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Burza is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Borgne pushes Burza off looking to stand but Burza dives back in and keeps control.

Burza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Borgne defends it well.
Burza passes to full mount!

Burza wants to finish this one by submission but Borgne is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Burza.
Burza has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Burza has control of Borgne's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Borgne regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burza has hold of Borgne's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Borgne manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burza sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Borgne is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Burza is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Borgne can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Borgne wants to hold on but Burza pushes him away.
Borgne is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burza postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Borgne looks a forlorn figure.
Burza has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Borgne's face.

Burza jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Borgne is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Borgne and Burza has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Borgne is in a horrible position here. Burza smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's time! Borgne's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Borgne shoots for a takedown but Burza saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Burza tries to bum rush Borgne with a series of wild strikes but Borgne uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Borgne is defended easily by Burza.
Burza throws a right hand that Borgne ducks under and follows up with a left that Borgne also avoids with ease.

Borgne misses with a takedown
and Burza counters with a series of strikes. Borgne will be more careful next time no doubt.

Burza shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Borgne napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Borgne is trying to control Burza's posture but Burza avoids it.

Burza takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Burza swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Borgne is now in Burza's guard. A big mistake from Burza there, giving up the dominant position!
Burza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Our spies down at at Franklin D. Bluth Memorial Supergym inform us that Burza has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Guigui Borgne.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Burza, right into the meat.
Burza throws a head kick that half lands.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Borgne.
Borgne is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Burza.
Borgne with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Burza to score with a decent uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burza fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Borgne sprawls well initially but Burza persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Roman Burza showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Burza sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Borgne's guard.
Burza looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Burza passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Borgne!
Borgne wants to control but Burza is having none of it.

Borgne turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Burza off and cradles Borgne's limp body as Burza celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Roman Burza!
Roman Burza really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that GRAND Royal Wear logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
