The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valdez throws a nice looking combination but Dantas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dantas has a takedown stuffed.

Valdez darts in and clinches Dantas up against the cage.

Dantas wants to take the fight to the mat but Valdez manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Valdez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dantas was covering up waiting for the punch and Valdez finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Dantas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Dantas is landing with some decent strikes but Valdez is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Dantas lands a couple of good shots and Valdez has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Dantas lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dantas slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Dantas is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Dantas gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Dantas gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Dantas apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Dantas is trying to trip Valdez. He has hold of a leg but Valdez is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Dantas persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
