Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Till I Collapse. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pete Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Gordon. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gordon should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Some wild striking there from Gordon.
Gordon walks forward, straight into a front kick from Smith.
Gordon wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side
and Smith makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Gordon really felt that one!
Smith fails with the takedown.
Gordon swings for the body but Smith moves out of range.
Smith goes for a double leg but Gordon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gordon continues to drive forward.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Pete Gordon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gordon avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Crunch! Smith slams his shin into Gordon's torso.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gordon has eaten all the pies!
Gordon keeps the fight on the outside.

Smith has managed to clinch.

Smith jumps guard and drags Gordon to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Gordon throws a big right hand that misses.
Gordon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Gordon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Smith holds on and takes a little breather.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gordon defends it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gordon throws a strike but Smith rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gordon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Smith decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gordon, up you get!
Gordon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Gordon throws the left hand but Smith avoids the punch easily.
Gordon darts in looking for a takedown but Smith gets double underhooks and turns Gordon into the cage.
Gordon is trying to break the clinch but Smith has him pressed against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gordon is trying to break the clinch but Smith is controlling him.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Smith.
Gordon is pressed up against the cage. Smith has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gordon down to the mat. Gordon avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gordon tries to clinch up

and Smith counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Smith.

Gordon working for submissions but it's allowed Smith to get to half guard.

Smith in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Gordon tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Smith!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John Smith!
John Smith decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
