Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jeff Martinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Oliver Charles!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Charles fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Martinez sprawls well initially but Charles persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Martinez wants to control but Charles is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martinez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Charles is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Charles wants to stand up but Martinez is controlling the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Martinez prevents Charles from breaking the clinch.
Charles wants to break free but Martinez has control.

Charles tightens his grip and picks Martinez up, before dumping him to the ground. Martinez manages to land in guard.

Charles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Martinez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Martinez is trying to keep Charles in close.
Charles wants to stand but Martinez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Martinez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Charles content to stall in guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jeff Martinez.

Charles shoots in and gets a takedown into Martinez's guard.

Martinez controls Charles momentarily but Charles frees himself.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeff Martinez wasn't doing enough on the ground.

and Martinez counters with an outside leg kick.

Martinez tries to sprawl but Charles drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Charles is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Martinez is positioning himself well to prevent Charles advancing to mount.
Martinez is trying to control but can't.
Martinez tries to roll over but Charles keeps him under control.

Charles is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Martinez is refusing to be controlled, as Charles sits in half guard.
Martinez is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Charles's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Charles's back!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Charles trying to control but not successfully.
Charles manages to reverse the position and now he's in Martinez's guard. Nice work there by Charles.

Martinez wants to sweep but no luck.
Charles is stalling in the full guard.
Charles wants to control from the top but Martinez keeps moving.
Charles pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Martinez is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Charles postures up in Martinez's guard and throws a big left but Martinez blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oliver Charles dominated that round.
That's time! Martinez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Charles decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Martinez's guard.

Martinez controls Charles momentarily but Charles frees himself.
Charles pushes down on Martinez's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Charles is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Charles would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jeff Martinez wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Martinez is trying to pull guard but Charles turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Oliver Charles wasn't active enough on the ground.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Charles works to advance to full mount. Martinez defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Charles tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Charles can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Martinez is looking to escape.
Charles prevents Martinez from getting the reversal.
Charles lands a couple of good shots and Martinez has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Charles is cranking Martinez's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Martinez! He's tightened the choke and Martinez is tapping out!
