The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatti throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Machida's waist but Machida gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gatti off to one side.

Gatti looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Machida!
Machida wants to control but Gatti postures up.

It looks like Andy Machida has been cut.
Machida tries to bench press Gatti off him but Gatti keeps the position.
Gatti could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Machida can't do much from the bottom here.

Gatti creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Machida is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That has opened up Andy Machida's cut even more.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Machida is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machida is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gatti is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gatti has escaped and now he's on top!
Our spies down at at Brophy's Evil Troid Academy (BETA) inform us that Machida has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Gatti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Machida swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Machida working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gatti doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gatti manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Machida is looking for a triangle but Gatti pushes his legs off easily.

Gatti postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Andy Machida's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Gatti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Machida swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Machida is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Gatti rolls with it to try and escape but Machida cranks on the arm and Gatti is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
