Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johnathan Howe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dimitri Kasponov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dimitri Kasponov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnathan Howe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dimitri Kasponov!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasponov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Howe counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Dimitri Kasponov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howe shoots in looking for a takedown but Kasponov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Howe's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kasponov clinches up with Howe and pushes him back against the cage.
Kasponov misses with a punch to the body.
Kasponov lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Howe just misses with a elbow thrown towards Kasponov's brow.

Howe pulls guard successfully.
Kasponov throws an elbow that misses. Howe uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kasponov's guard. Nice move by Howe!

Kasponov wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Howe seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Howe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Howe slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kasponov looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Howe has picked Kasponov up and slammed him! Kasponov can't keep hold of the triangle and Howe manages to pass to side control!

Howe misses with the ground and pound.
Kasponov wants to control but Howe postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kasponov manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Howe blocks the strikes from Kasponov.

Howe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kasponov doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Howe.

Kasponov wants to get back to full guard but Howe has mounted him!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Howe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kasponov is fending him off so far but Howe persists. Nope, Kasponov circles away and we're back to standing.
Dimitri Kasponov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Kasponov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Howe's waist but Howe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kasponov off to one side.
Kasponov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Howe sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
We've been informed that Kasponov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Howe shoots in looking for a takedown. Kasponov tries to sprawl out of it but Howe keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kasponov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and Howe counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kasponov is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Howe is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Johnathan Howe will probably get the nod.
