PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karevul Ikarus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Armando Elcock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ikarus comes to the cage accompanied by Flight of Icarus by Iron Maiden. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elcock misses with a double jab.
Elcock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ikarus circles away quickly and effectively.

Ikarus wants to control from the top but Elcock keeps moving.
Ikarus is really struggling to control Elcock but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Elcock is looking to stand up but Ikarus isn't so interested in that idea.

Ikarus drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Elcock manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ikarus has Elcock in his guard.

Ikarus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Elcock's guard.
Ikarus slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Elcock wants to stand and escape but Ikarus is having none of it.

Ikarus throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Elcock was covering up waiting for the punch and Ikarus finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Ikarus's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Ikarus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Elcock tries to avoid it but Ikarus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Elcock to the ground. Elcock escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ikarus closes the distance and clinches up with Elcock, looking for a takedown. Ikarus pushes Elcock against the cage but Elcock circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Elcock fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ikarus manages to avoid it.
Elcock has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ikarus is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Elcock lands a slapping body shot.
Elcock misses with an uppercut.
Elcock throws a right and a left that both miss.
Elcock jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Elcock throws a right hand that Ikarus ducks under and follows up with a left that Ikarus also avoids with ease.
Ikarus will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Ikarus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ikarus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Elcock keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Elcock is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
