The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Plights closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Huerta to the mat! Huerta manages to get full guard.
Plights sitting in guard here, content to control.
Huerta keeping moving, preventing Plights from controlling successfully.
Plights lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Huerta has a closed guard, preventing Plights from standing up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Thumbo Plights was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Plights takes a swing at Huerta's ribcage but misses.
Plights fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Huerta avoids it really well and circles away.

Plights clinches.
Huerta tries for a takedown. No joy.
Huerta drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Huerta is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Plights can't fight it off and eventually Huerta manages to take the fight to the floor. Plights looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Plights avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Plights wants to stand and escape but Huerta is having none of it.

Huerta stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Huerta wants it to stay on the feet.

Horrible takedown by Plights or perhaps it was just good defense by Huerta which made him look bad.
Paul Huerta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thumbo Plights.

Huerta fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Plights sprawls well initially but Huerta persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Huerta winds up and cracks Plights with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Huerta is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Huerta looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Plights with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Huerta is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Plights is just riding it out for now. Huerta eventually gives up the hold.

Huerta is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Plights doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Huerta.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Huerta is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Plights is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
