Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gegard Mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Philip Negan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mousasi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ratamahatta. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mousasi lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Mousasi connects with a jab.
Negan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mousasi closes the distance and pushes Negan back into the cage.
Mousasi on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Negan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mousasi prevents it.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Negan working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Negan wants to control from the top but Mousasi keeps moving.

Mousasi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Negan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Negan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mousasi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mousasi is trying to control the position but Negan postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mousasi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Negan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mousasi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Negan is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Negan is working Mousasi over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Negan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Negan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mousasi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Negan has managed to get both his arms back between Mousasi's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Gegard Mousasi will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

He's locked it up tight! Negan's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Mousasi picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

A relieved looking Gegard Mousasi thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
