Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vaimaa Fatu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fatu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to So Close Now. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fatu moves into range and connects with a jab.
Fatu has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Palmer looks to land a body kick but Fatu moved away.
Chris Palmer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fatu lands a jab to Palmer's midsection.
Fatu tried to score with a low kick but Palmer checks it.

Palmer throws a chopping leg kick but Fatu manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Fatu lands with a kick to the temple. Palmer shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Fatu does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Palmer sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Fatu cracks Palmer with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Palmer attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
A nice inside leg kick there by Palmer. That's going to slow Fatu down.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Fatu checks a leg kick.
Fatu smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fatu takes a swing at Palmer's ribcage but misses.
Fatu moves away from the strike by Palmer.
Palmer moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Palmer is looking to slow Fatu down with leg kicks.
Palmer moves forwards but Fatu connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Palmer takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Palmer throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Crunch! Palmer slams his shin into Fatu's torso.
Palmer lands the left hand.
Palmer attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Palmer feints and then cracks Fatu's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Fatu down.
Fatu scores with a body shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Fatu lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Palmer has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Palmer and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Palmer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Fatu is able to avoid easily.
Fatu lands a body shot.
Fatu ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Palmer moves away.
Fatu lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Palmer thumps Fatu with a low kick.
Fatu chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Palmer can pounce on him.
Fatu on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Fatu is breathing heavily.
Palmer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
A left lands for Palmer.
Fatu misses with an uppercut. Palmer saw that one coming.

Fatu fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Palmer.
Palmer connects with a body shot that sends Fatu's belly button to the back.
Palmer plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Vaimaa Fatu has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Palmer lands with a thumping leg kick.
Palmer wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Palmer connects with a vicious head kick that knocks Fatu to the floor! Palmer dives in looking for the finish!

Fatu is rocked!
Palmer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fatu's head.

Palmer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Palmer is working for a kimura but Fatu is defending it quite comfortably.

Fatu is trying to control but can't.
Palmer scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Vaimaa Fatu's cut is getting worse.
Fatu tries to roll over but Palmer keeps him under control.
Palmer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Palmer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fatu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Palmer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fatu is not content to let Palmer control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Palmer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fatu was covering up waiting for the punch and Palmer finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Palmer tries to free his leg and advance position but Fatu is retaining full guard.

Palmer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Palmer throws a big elbow that misses.

Fatu avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Palmer working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Palmer throwing strikes but missing.
Palmer passes Fatu's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Palmer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Palmer wants to advance to full mount but Fatu doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Fatu utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Palmer throws a strike but Fatu rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Palmer manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fatu is working to get back to half guard.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Vaimaa Fatu's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
