PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Magomed Ismailov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Lindell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lindell is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ten Thousand Fists in the Air. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Magomed Ismailov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chuck Lindell!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ismailov misses with a series of wild punches.
Ismailov throws a hook to the side of Lindell's head but Lindell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lindell has a takedown stuffed.
Lindell slips a straight right by Ismailov.

Ismailov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ismailov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ismailov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lindell tries to bench press Ismailov off him but Ismailov keeps the position.
Lindell sneaks back into half guard.
Ismailov passes to side control.
Ismailov definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Ismailov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lindell, who protects the arm well.
You can see the frustration on Lindell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ismailov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lindell keeps working.

Ismailov tries for a kimura but Lindell is defending well.

Lindell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ismailov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Lindell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ismailov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ismailov is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Lindell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ismailov is looking to take a break and control but Lindell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lindell can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A punch lands to the side of Lindell 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Ismailov gets the takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lindell throws Ismailov to one side and escapes!
Magomed Ismailov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lindell on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Ismailov manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lindell on his heels. He'll look to pass Lindell's guard now, I'm sure.

Ismailov has gone for a leg lock! Lindell slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ismailov's guard.

Lindell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Lindell would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Lindell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Magomed Ismailov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ismailov drops back looking for a leg! Lindell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lindell manages to kick Ismailov off! Ismailov jumps back into Lindell's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lindell is on top in guard.
Lindell wants to control from the top but Ismailov keeps moving.
Lindell wants to stand but Ismailov has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Ismailov looking for a sweep. Not yet Ismailov, not yet.
Ismailov is trying to control the position but Lindell postures up.

We're going to have a standup here because Magomed Ismailov wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Lindell changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ismailov tries to avoid it but Lindell manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ismailov to the ground. Ismailov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ismailov just misses with a punch to the body.
Lindell walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Ismailov checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Ismailov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Lindell is staying active underneath Ismailov, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ismailov is stalling here. Lindell is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ismailov seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lindell has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lindell throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Ismailov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Magomed Ismailov.
Ismailov slaps away a takedown attempt from Lindell, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Ismailov misses with a hook. Lindell ducked under it nicely.

Lindell clinches up with Ismailov and pushes him back against the cage.
Ismailov is trying to pull guard but Lindell has him pressed against the cage.

Lindell jumps into guard, dragging Ismailov to the mat.

Lindell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ismailov's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Ismailov wants to control from the top but Lindell keeps moving.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ismailov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Magomed Ismailov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A lazy left from Ismailov finds it's target.
Ismailov avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lindell tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ismailov defends well and Lindell ends up having to push Ismailov into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Magomed Ismailov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Lindell.
Lindell keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ismailov's efforts to push away.
Ismailov jumps guard but Lindell turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lindell stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Lindell lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Ismailov backwards.

Magomed Ismailov showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ismailov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
