Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenton Solis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenton Solis has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kenton Solis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Payne!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne has a takedown stuffed.
Solis throws a head kick but Payne moves out of range.

Payne moves into range and clinches up with Solis.
Solis fails to pull guard.
Solis keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Payne's efforts to push away.
Payne is trying to break the clinch but Solis has him pressed against the cage.

Payne tightens his grip and picks Solis up, before dumping him to the ground. Solis manages to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Payne looking to pass the guard.
Payne looking to sit in guard and control but Solis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Solis chips away with some ground and pound.

Solis tries to stand but Payne is controlling from the bottom.
Payne wants to stand up but Solis is controlling him.

Payne is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Payne is trying to work for a kimura but Solis is defending well.
Solis wants to get back to full guard.

Payne slows the pace down in half guard.
Solis knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Payne on the ground.

Payne tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Solis.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jason Payne wasn't active enough on the ground.
Payne shoots in for a double leg but Solis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sloppy strikes from Solis. Those never looked like landing.
Solis throws a head kick that misses.

Payne misses with a few strikes there.
Payne shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Solis as he avoids it easily.
Kenton Solis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Payne.
Solis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Payne has a takedown stuffed.
Payne is looking to clinch.

Solis gets tackled into the cage by Payne. Payne maintains the clinch.
Solis tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Solis pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Payne shoots in for a double leg but Solis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Payne doesn't manage to clinch there - Solis circles away.

Kenton Solis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jason Payne.
Payne is staying active underneath Solis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Solis tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Payne.

Solis is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Payne defends it well.

Solis wants to work for an arm triangle but Payne is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Payne not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Payne is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Payne is looking to stand up but Solis isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Kenton Solis just wasn't active enough.

and Solis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Payne's guard.
Kenton Solis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Solis trying to control but Payne is working from the bottom.
Solis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Solis throws an elbow that misses. Payne uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Solis's guard. Nice move by Payne!

Solis can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Payne controls the pace.

Kenton Solis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Horrible takedown by Payne or perhaps it was just good defense by Solis which made him look bad.
Solis misses with a takedown
and Payne counters with a series of strikes. Solis will be more careful next time no doubt.
Solis throws a combination. Payne tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Payne shoots in and gets a takedown into Solis's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jason Payne.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Payne closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Solis quickly recovers to half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Payne throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kenton Solis will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Payne changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Solis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Payne wants to stand but Solis is controlling his arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Payne tries to move to mount but Solis blocks the move with his legs.
Payne tries to stand but Solis is controlling his head.
You can see the frustration on Solis's face as Payne controls the position.
Solis is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Payne is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Payne tries to control but Solis wriggling away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Payne is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Solis has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Solis!

Solis has gone for a leg lock! Payne slips out almost immediately though and dives into Solis's guard.
Payne wants to stand but Solis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Payne was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Solis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jason Payne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Payne fails in his attempt to clinch.

Payne shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Payne drops an elbow to the side of Solis's head.

Solis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Payne is working away from the top position though.
Payne thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Solis's head.

Jason Payne comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Payne has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
