Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, JP Gill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akihiro Shirasu!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shirasu moves out of range of the leg kick from Gill.
Gill defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shirasu.
Gill throws a series of punches but Shirasu avoids them all with ease.
Gill fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shirasu manages to avoid it.
Gill defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shirasu.
Gill throws a nice looking combination but Shirasu bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Shirasu tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gill manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
JP Gill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shirasu shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Shirasu was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Shirasu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gill keeps working.

Gill is not content to let Shirasu control the position.
Gill is trying to control Shirasu's posture but Shirasu avoids it.

Shirasu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Shirasu creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gill sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Gill is looking for a sweep.
Shirasu wants to control but Gill is keeping him busy.
Gill tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shirasu wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gill is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shirasu has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Gill is not content to let Shirasu control the position.

Gill manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Shirasu is looking to control Gill's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shirasu avoid being mounted?
The fighters are battling for position here. Shirasu manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Gill wants to control from the top but Shirasu keeps moving.
Gill is working Shirasu over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Gill postures up in Shirasu's guard and throws a big left but Shirasu blocks it.
Shirasu not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shirasu manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gill manages to get himself to full guard.

Shirasu stops Gill from standing up.
Gill avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Gill is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Gill is pulling down on Shirasu's head to control his posture.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gill fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Shirasu avoids it really well and circles away.

Gill closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Shirasu to the mat! Shirasu manages to get full guard.

Gill is sitting in close to Shirasu's body. Shirasu has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Gill is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Gill is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Shirasu.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Akihiro Shirasu!
Akihiro Shirasu seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
In defeat, JP Gill stepped up to the mic, saying 'Clearly, I've got some things to work on. Thanks to everyone who's supported me thus far.'.
