The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab from Romero.
Zegan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Zegan misses with a hook. Romero ducked under it nicely.
Romero misses with the combination.
A head kick misses from Zegan.

Zegan has closed the distance and engaged Romero in a clinch.
Romero landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
A left hand lands to the body for Zegan.
Romero tries a knee to the head but Zegan blocks it.

Zegan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Oh, that's a big right hand from Romero and Zegan goes tumbling to the canvas! Romero follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Zegan is trying to control but Romero passes into side control!
Zegan on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Zegan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Romero.

Romero is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Zegan has escaped the position, nice work there.
Zegan is not content to let Romero control the position.
Zegan seems to have recovered his senses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zegan wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Zegan tries to buck Romero off but Romero is having none of it.

Romero is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Zegan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Zegan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Zegan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Romero is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Zegan has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Romero with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zegan is in all sorts of trouble here.

Romero lands a heavy elbow.
Romero avoids the attempt from Zegan to control.

Romero working for a submission but Zegan is keeping him at bay.
Zegan is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Romero jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Zegan manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zegan is working to avoid the ground and pound but Romero connects with a decent elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Zegan moves in looking to clinch but Romero pushes him off.
A combination from Romero does no damage.

Romero with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Zegan to score with a decent uppercut.

Zegan pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Romero counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Zegan down! Romero is looking to finish but Zegan is intelligently defending himself.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Romero controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Romero is working Zegan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Romero drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Romero as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Zegan screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Romero! Nice submission victory there!
