PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between H Y Kwon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Miyagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kwon comes to the cage accompanied by Atmosphere - Trying To Find A Balance. Miyagi has chosen Ready for war as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, H Y Kwon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Miyagi!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kwon fails in his attempt to clinch.
Miyagi misses with a few strikes there.
Miyagi swings for the body but Kwon moves out of range.
Miyagi throws a nice looking combination but Kwon bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kwon throws a big shot that misses.
Miyagi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kwon doesn't seem bothered though.
Kwon misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kwon tries to close the distance and clinch but Miyagi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Miyagi lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like H Y Kwon has been cut.
Miyagi thows a body shot but no joy.
Kwon misses with a double jab
and Miyagi counters with a right hand to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Miyagi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kwon.
Miyagi looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kwon takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Kwon is breathing heavily.
Left hook, right uppercut from Kwon.
H Y Kwon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kwon misses with a takedown attempt
and Miyagi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kwon thinking.

Miyagi throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Miyagi buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Miyagi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Miyagi is in close to Kwon's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Miyagi works over Kwon with some ground and pound from guard.
Miyagi lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Miyagi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Miyagi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Miyagi distracts Kwon with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Miyagi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miyagi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kwon is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

and Miyagi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kwon thinking.

Miyagi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Miyagi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kwon tries to reverse the position but Miyagi maintains control.
Miyagi lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Miyagi has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kwon's face.
Miyagi cracks Kwon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kwon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miyagi fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Kwon tries to hold on but Miyagi postures up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Miyagi dominated that round.
The cut man is working on H Y Kwon's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kwon throws a leg kick

and Miyagi counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Miyagi.

Kwon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miyagi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miyagi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Miyagi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kwon's head.
Miyagi is working Kwon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kwon looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kwon is looking for a triangle but Miyagi pushes his legs off easily.

Miyagi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Miyagi lands a nice short elbow.

Miyagi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kwon sees it coming and defends easily.

Miyagi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Miyagi wants to free his trapped foot but Kwon is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Miyagi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Shane Miyagi has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kwon has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Miyagi. Oh but Kwon has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Miyagi goes limp - he's gone! Kwon jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). H Y Kwon!
