PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phan Benjawan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Ring (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benjawan comes to the cage accompanied by It Comes and It Goes. Ring is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Gay Bar. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Phan Benjawan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Roger Ring!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benjawan connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Benjawan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ring shoots in but no luck this time.
No joy there for Benjawan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Benjawan lands with a thumping leg kick.
Benjawan blocks a head kick by Ring.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Benjawan.
Benjawan lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Ring crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Benjawan - the referee stops the clock and Ring gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Benjawan. Ring manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Ring goes for a double leg but Benjawan avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Benjawan continues to drive forward.
Ring wants to break the clinch but can't.
Ring takes an elbow to the temple.

Benjawan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Benjawan. Ring shrugs it off though.
Ring looks winded!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ring takes a kick to the side of the head.
Ring will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Benjawan lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ring circles away quickly and effectively.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Benjawan stalks Ring and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ring's face. Ring staggers backwards, shaken.
Benjawan pushes Ring away with a front kick.
Benjawan throws a head kick that Ring semi-blocks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ring slips a jab and a cross from Benjawan.
Ring misses with a wild body shot.
A combination from Benjawan does no damage.
Benjawan moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


Ring is rocked!
Ring throws a head kick that misses
and Benjawan counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Ring off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Benjawan follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Ring was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Phan Benjawan!
Phan Benjawan seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
