Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Leo Vieira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dwayne Fair!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fair gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Vieira to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Vieira has gone for a leg lock! Fair slips out almost immediately though and dives into Vieira's guard.
Fair tries to free his leg and advance position but Vieira is retaining full guard.
Vieira keeping moving, preventing Fair from controlling successfully.
Vieira has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Fair wants to stand and escape but instead Vieira has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Vieira drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Fair dives on top into guard.
Fair loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sloppy strikes from Fair. Those never looked like landing.

Vieira shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Vieira showed some decent athleticism there.

Vieira is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Fair defends it well.

Vieira wants to work for an arm triangle but Fair is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Fair won't allow Vieira to pass to mount.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Vieira closes the distance and pushes Fair back into the cage.
Vieira changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fair fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Fair tries to sprawl but Vieira drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Leo Vieira overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Vieira is working for an americana but Fair has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Vieira was thinking about the submission.
Fair lands an upkick as Vieira stands over him.

Vieira drops back, looking for a kneebar! Fair looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Fair looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Fair!
Fair postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vieira managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Fair.
Vieira has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Fair tries to score with some ground and pound. Vieira controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The strikes coming from Fair are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Fair taking a break here but Vieira is having none of it and regains half guard.

Fair is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Fair wants to free his trapped foot but Vieira is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Fair is working for a kimura here but Vieira manages to reverse the position and he's now in Fair's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vieira is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fair is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fair has escaped and now he's on top!

Vieira pulls Fair in to control the position.
Fair trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Vieira looking for a sweep. Not yet Vieira, not yet.
Fair wants to control from the top but Vieira keeps moving.
Fair is in close to Vieira's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Vieira is pulling down on Fair's head to control his posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fair postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Vieira wants to sweep but no luck.
Vieira keeping moving, preventing Fair from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Vieira fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Leo Vieira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vieira shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fair napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fair wants to control but Vieira postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vieira working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Vieira wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fair, who protects the arm well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leo Vieira will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Vieira postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fair is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vieira, into his guard.

Fair content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Vieira has locked up a guillotine! Vieira's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Fair is holding on here and Vieira must be using up a lot of energy. Fair has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Vieira gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
