The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mastropardi tries to clinch there but Halmann circles away.

Mastropardi gets the takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Mastropardi misses with the ground and pound.

Halmann struggling a bit here.
Halmann tries to buck Mastropardi off but Mastropardi is having none of it.

Mastropardi lands with a punch from half guard.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mastropardi working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Mastropardi is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Mastropardi is working for a kimura but Halmann is defending it quite comfortably.
Halmann regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mastropardi.
Mastropardi lands a couple of digs.

Mastropardi content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Halmann has locked up a guillotine! Halmann's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mastropardi is holding on here and Halmann must be using up a lot of energy. Mastropardi has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Halmann gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
