Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santos Goncalves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Colbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Santos Goncalves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chris Colbert!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goncalves throws a hook to the side of Colbert's head but Colbert sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Santos Goncalves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Goncalves changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Colbert looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Goncalves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Goncalves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Colbert is looking to regain half guard here but Goncalves keeps moving and retains side control.

Goncalves tries for a kimura but Colbert is defending well.
Colbert is trying to get back to half guard.

Goncalves is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Colbert is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Goncalves tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goncalves advances to full mount.
Colbert sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Goncalves is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Colbert reverses the position - he's now on top in Goncalves's guard.
Colbert has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Island Top Team. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

Goncalves has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Colbert can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Colbert might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Goncalves haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Goncalves working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Colbert doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Colbert manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Goncalves is looking for a kimura but Colbert is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Goncalves to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goncalves shoots in and gets a takedown into Colbert's guard.
Goncalves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Colbert swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Goncalves throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Colbert works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Goncalves drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Colbert manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Goncalves has Colbert in his guard.

Goncalves can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Colbert controls the pace.

Goncalves escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Colbert gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Santos Goncalves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Colbert closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Goncalves to the mat! Goncalves manages to get full guard.

Colbert is sitting in close to Goncalves's body. Goncalves has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Colbert is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Colbert is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Goncalves.
