Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vadim Finkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Connely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Finkle comes to the cage accompanied by Traffic. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vadim Finkle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Connely!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Connely scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Finkle seems a little lost for a moment, as Connely dominates the positioning.
Finkle tries to bench press Connely off him but Connely keeps the position.

Finkle is trying to escape the position but Connely is controlling the position.

Finkle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Connely's guard.
Finkle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Finkle throws a strike but Connely rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Finkle moves out of range of the strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Finkle throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Connely sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Finkle is looking to clinch but Connely is avoiding it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vadim Finkle will probably get the nod.

Connely cracks Finkle with an open hand slap.
Connely shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Finkle but Finkle pushes him off and we're back to square one.

It looks like Dan Connely has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Finkle stands up and beckons Connely to his feet.

Finkle moves away from the strike by Connely.
Connely is breathing heavily.
The fighters circling - Connely throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Finkle lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Finkle rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Connely moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Finkle is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Finkle tries to bum rush Connely with a series of wild strikes but Connely uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Finkle changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Connely looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Finkle tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Finkle here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
You can see the frustration on Connely's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Connely manages to get back to half guard.
Connely is not content to let Finkle control the position.
Connely regains full guard. Nicely done.

Finkle decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Connely, up you get!

Finkle has a takedown stuffed.
Vadim Finkle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Finkle moves out of range of the strikes.
Connely shoots for a takedown but Finkle saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Connely darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Finkle throws a jab when Connely was well out of range.

so Connely counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Connely takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Finkle is looking for a sweep. Connely is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dan Connely has got the better of the ground game so far.
Connely keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Connely trying to mount his opponent but Finkle defends it.
Finkle is looking to control Connely's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Finkle avoid being mounted?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Connely swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Connely thuds his right hand into Finkle's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Connely scores with a jab. Finkle acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
