Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Gates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ma Hung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Gates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ma Hung!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gates slips a jab and a cross from Hung.
Hung scores with a jab to the head.
Hung misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Gates misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hung throws a series of strikes that have Gates backpedaling.
Hung moves to clinch but Gates breaks away

and Gates counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gates works his foot free and advances to mount.
Hung really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gates. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gates thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Hung wants to hold on but Gates pushes him away.

Hung is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hung can do anything to dispel that myth.

Hung defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Gates.
Gates throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gates cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gates tries to control but Hung wriggling away.

Gates goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hung is on top in guard.
Gates has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hung won't allow Gates to get back to his feet.
Hung wants to stand and escape but instead Gates has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Gates is looking to work some ground and pound but Hung has wrist control.

Gates stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hung swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hung lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gates!

Gates misses with a takedown attempt - Hung sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gates shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hung sprawls well. Hung wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gates gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Gates. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hung lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gates tries to move into range but Hung moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hung throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gates.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hung leaves Gates with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hung misses with a jab, cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Gates shoots in but no luck this time.
Hung looks to score with a jab to the body but Gates is just out of range.
A slow jab from Hung misses its intended target.
Hung doesn't manage to clinch there - Gates circles away.
Gates misses with a takedown

and Hung moves into the clinch.

Hung pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gates shoots in for a takedown but Hung shows good takedown defense.

Hung looks to land a combination. Gates sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Hung gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gates to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Gates wants to control from the top but Hung keeps moving.
Hung is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gates is controlling him.

Gates is looking to work some ground and pound but Hung has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gates wants to control from the top but Hung keeps moving.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Gates slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Gates is looking to take a break and control but Hung is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hung can't do much from the bottom here.
Hung regains half guard.
Gates is taking a breather. Hung says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gates throwing shots but Hung is blocking nicely.

Gates is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hung has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hung wants to get back to his feet.

Gates thows a huge punch but Hung dodges it nicely.
Gates is just content to waste time from the top position. Hung takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Hung is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Gates dives into side control.
Gates misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Jack Gates overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hung is trying to control Gates's posture but Gates avoids it.
Check out the look on Gates's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Gates is stalling here. Hung is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Gates seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Hung has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Gates pushes Hung away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hung gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hung tries to clinch up

Hung is looking to improve his position but Gates isn't that keen on the idea.

Gates is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hung has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hung!

Hung has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gates is proving hard to escape from.
Gates is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hung is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hung stuffs the takedown attempt from Gates. Gates gets slowly back to his feet.

and Gates counters with a single leg into guard. Hung didn't expect that.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gates, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
