PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gnagis Starksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gee AsPee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Starksson comes to the ring accompanied by Scooter Weekend. AsPee has chosen Move Bit*h - Ludacris as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Gnagis Starksson had a look across the ring there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gnagis Starksson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gee AsPee!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Taro Takaoka and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
AsPee is looking to slow Starksson down with leg kicks.
AsPee looking to land some kicks to the body here.
AsPee throws a leg kick but Starksson checks it.
AsPee looks to land a right hand but Starksson moved out of range.
AsPee throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
AsPee throws a nice outside leg kick.
Starksson is breathing heavily.
AsPee scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nice combo by AsPee! Oh, that's hurt him - Starksson falls to the canvas and AsPee follows him into side control.

It looks like Gnagis Starksson has been cut.
AsPee wants to control but Starksson is keeping him busy.
Oh Starksson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

AsPee has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Starksson seems to have got his legs back now.
AsPee scores with a head kick.
AsPee lands a right hook to the body.
AsPee steps into range and cracks Starksson with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Starksson flops backwards and AsPee dives into his guard looking to finish!
Starksson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

AsPee gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A left and a right from AsPee both land. Nice combination.
AsPee scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
AsPee thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Starksson if he has to take too many more of those.
Starksson moves forwards but AsPee connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
AsPee throws a leg kick which misses Starksson's front leg but catches the back leg as Starksson tries to avoid it.
AsPee paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Nice uppercut lands for AsPee. That snapped Starksson's head back.
AsPee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Starksson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
AsPee throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Starksson.
AsPee feints and then cracks Starksson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Starksson down.
AsPee scores with a head kick.
Starksson has a takedown stuffed.

AsPee dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Starksson. That did some damage!
The crowd cheers as AsPee lands an impressive looking overhand right. Starksson doesn't seem phased though.
Starksson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

AsPee closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Starksson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Starksson is trying to stand.
AsPee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
AsPee tries to stand and escape but Starksson is controlling the position.

Starksson throws a strike from the bottom but AsPee passes into side control!
Starksson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but AsPee wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Starksson wants to control but AsPee postures up.
Starksson is not content to let AsPee control the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A solid leg kick lands there for AsPee.
AsPee scores with a nice head shot.
AsPee tries a low kick but Starksson avoids it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
AsPee connects with a looping right hand.
AsPee cracks Starksson with a right hand to the side of the head.
AsPee throws a big shot that misses.

AsPee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Starksson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! AsPee is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Starksson, into his guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

AsPee stands up from Starksson's guard - AsPee perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gee AsPee dominated that round.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Starksson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and AsPee counters with a leg kick.
AsPee feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Starksson's calf.
AsPee fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Starksson.

AsPee buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
AsPee is looking to slow Starksson down with leg kicks.
A right-left combo lands from AsPee.
Good leg kick by AsPee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
AsPee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Starksson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
AsPee lands with a thumping leg kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and AsPee counters with a series of strikes. Starksson will be more careful next time no doubt.
Gnagis Starksson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
AsPee cracks Starksson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Starksson seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but AsPee is holding on tight.
Starksson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as AsPee is looking to escape.

Starksson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now AsPee is on top in guard.
Starksson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
AsPee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

AsPee decides to stand back up. AsPee steps back and let's Starksson get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

AsPee lets loose with a powerful body kick. Starksson will feel that in the morning.

AsPee sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Starksson's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
AsPee bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Starksson's head backwards.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gee AsPee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got AsPee winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
