PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Irwin Lang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Fisher told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Irwin Lang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, George Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Lang as Fisher shoots in.
Fisher shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lang sprawls well. Lang wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fisher gets slowly back to his feet.

Fisher gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Lang can't get the takedown.
Fisher has Lang pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lang manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Irwin Lang has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of George Fisher.

Lang has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lang throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fisher works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Fisher decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lang, up you get!
Fisher darts in looking for a takedown but Lang gets double underhooks and turns Fisher into the cage.

Fisher pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fisher has closed the distance and engaged Lang in a clinch.

Fisher shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Horrible takedown by Fisher or perhaps it was just good defense by Lang which made him look bad.
Lang could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Fisher throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lang tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fisher is in Lang's guard.
Fisher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Lang thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

George Fisher has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fisher is defended easily by Lang.
Lang keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Fisher shoots for a double leg takedown but Lang sprawls well. He's pushed Fisher's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

George Fisher showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fisher holds on and takes a little breather.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

OK we're going to have a standup here. George Fisher hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

I would just about give that final round to George Fisher.
Well Fisher has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
