PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Crash Bandicoot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Burbank Bulldog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bandicoot comes to the cage accompanied by Crash Bandicoot: Jungle Rollers Remix. Bulldog has chosen British Bulldog as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Crash Bandicoot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Burbank Bulldog!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bulldog rushes Bandicoot and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bulldog effectively controlling the action here.
Bandicoot is looking to take this one to the mat.
Bandicoot with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Bulldog tries to score a body lock takedown but Bandicoot shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Bulldog is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Bandicoot is trying to trip Bulldog. He has hold of a leg but Bulldog is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bandicoot persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Bandicoot drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bulldog looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bulldog looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bulldog!

Bulldog stands up and beckons Bandicoot to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bandicoot gets a clinch.
Bandicoot unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bulldog lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Bulldog wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bulldog has had enough of the clinch but Bandicoot keeps him there for the moment.
Bulldog tries to break the clinch but Bandicoot is controlling the position.
Bandicoot prevents a body shot from Bulldog.

Bulldog escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bandicoot is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Bandicoot tries to close the distance and clinch but Bulldog swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bulldog turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Bandicoot is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bandicoot is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bulldog's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bulldog's back!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bandicoot has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bulldog has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Bulldog is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Bulldog is in bad spot here.
Bandicoot connects with a big shot to the side of Bulldog's head.
Bulldog rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Bulldog pushes Bandicoot off looking to stand but Bandicoot dives back in and keeps control.

Bandicoot looks to land a strike but Bulldog avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Bandicoot wants to get up but he can't break Bulldog's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Bulldog can't do much from the bottom here.
Bandicoot has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Bandicoot is looking to clinch but Bulldog is avoiding it.
Bandicoot tries to clinch up
and Bulldog counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Bulldog has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Bulldog forces Bandicoot back against the cage and clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bandicoot manages to break the clinch.
Bulldog moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Crash Bandicoot has been cut.
Bulldog throws a right and a left that both miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Crash Bandicoot will probably get the nod.

Bandicoot pushes Bulldog up against the cage in a clinch.
Bandicoot keeps control of Bulldog as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Bulldog managing to block the knees to the body from Bandicoot.
Bandicoot wants to stall.
Bulldog is pressed up against the cage. Bandicoot has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bulldog down to the mat. Bulldog avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Bulldog shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Bandicoot is trying to maintain the position but Bulldog is very close to passing his half guard.
Bandicoot wants to sweep but Bulldog has passed to side control!
Bulldog is looking to take a break and control but Bandicoot is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bandicoot can't do much from the bottom here.

Bandicoot tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bandicoot is working hard here to advance position.
Bandicoot tries to escape but Bulldog is in control.

Bulldog looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Bulldog working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Bulldog postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Bulldog tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Crash Bandicoot overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bandicoot manages to get back to half guard.

Bandicoot goes for a double leg but Bulldog avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bulldog continues to drive forward.

Bandicoot looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bulldog is fending him off so far but Bandicoot persists. Nope, Bulldog circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Crash Bandicoot. That's going to take a lot out of him.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Bulldog scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bandicoot to see if he's OK.
Bandicoot looking for a sweep but Bulldog has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Bulldog takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bandicoot manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bulldog keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Bulldog on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bulldog looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Bandicoot is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Bandicoot has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bulldog is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bulldog escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bandicoot has his foot on Bulldog's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bulldog works his way back into a safe position though.

Bulldog is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bandicoot is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Bulldog is looking to work some ground and pound but Bandicoot has wrist control.

Bandicoot is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bulldog defends well.

Bandicoot working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bulldog doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bulldog manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

I would just about give that final round to Burbank Bulldog.
I think Bandicoot has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
