Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bart Gould!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stuart Cole!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crunch! Cole slams his shin into Gould's torso.
Cole throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gould's waist but Gould gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cole off to one side.
Cole throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cole throws a head kick but Gould moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Gould. No joy for Cole on that attempt.

Gould gets tackled into the cage by Cole. Cole maintains the clinch.
Cole throws a knee to the head but misses.
Gould jumps guard but Cole turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Cole works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Gould looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Cole postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Gould will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gould wants to sweep but no luck.
Cole prevents Gould from getting back to his feet.

Cole working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Gould's head.

Cole is trying to trip Gould. He has hold of a leg but Gould is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Cole persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Cole cracks Gould with a solid left hand.

Gould is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cole pushes Gould off looking to stand but Gould dives back in and keeps control.
Gould will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cole pushes Gould off looking to stand but Gould dives back in and keeps control.

Gould is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Cole defends it well.
Gould stops Cole from getting back to his feet.
Cole tries to roll over but Gould keeps him under control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Gould lands a nice short elbow.

Gould gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Gould takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Cole plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Gould shoots in but no luck this time.
Cole moves in looking to clinch but Gould pushes him off.

Cole has clasped his hands together around Gould's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Gould regains half guard.
Gould has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gould is pressing down on Cole's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Cole should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Cole tries to kick Gould off but Gould keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Gould is looking to advance position but Cole won't allow it.
Gould looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cole with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cole manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Cole has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gould has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Cole works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Gould lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cole!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cole flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Cole wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stuart Cole dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gould shoots in looking for a takedown but Cole manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Gould's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gould closes the distance and clinches up with Cole, looking for a takedown. Gould pushes Cole against the cage but Cole circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cole wants to clinch.

Cole pushes Gould up against the cage in a clinch.
Cole has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gould after a bit of a struggle.
Cole landing knees to the head.


Gould is rocked!


It looks like Bart Gould has been cut.

Cole breaks from the clinch.
Oh Gould is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Cole has picked Gould up - he's going for a ride! Cole dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Cole is breathing heavily.
Cole scores with a big shot! Gould's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Gould! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
