Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Diego Poirie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian McGordon!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poirie fails with a takedown attempt.
Poirie has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from McGordon.
McGordon feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Poirie's calf.

McGordon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McGordon lands in his opponent's guard.
McGordon not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Poirie drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McGordon dives on top into guard.

Poirie darts in looking for a takedown but McGordon gets double underhooks and turns Poirie into the cage.
McGordon lands a shoulder strike.
McGordon lands a body shot.
Poirie has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McGordon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Poirie tries to circle away but McGordon has him pinned against the cage.
Poirie tries to break the clinch but McGordon is controlling the position.
McGordon manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Poirie is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Poirie throws an elbow that misses. McGordon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Poirie's guard. Nice move by McGordon!
McGordon is looking to work some ground and pound but Poirie has wrist control.

McGordon lands a couple of decent looking shots.

McGordon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Poirie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McGordon, into his guard.
McGordon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Poirie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as McGordon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
McGordon looking to hit a scissor sweep but Poirie is one step ahead there.
McGordon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Poirie is looking to work some ground and pound but McGordon has wrist control.

Poirie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brian McGordon wasn't active enough on the ground.
Poirie tries to clinch there but McGordon circles away.

Poirie shoots in and bounces McGordon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Diego Poirie will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Poirie takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
McGordon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Poirie eats them both and turns towards McGordon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Diego Poirie has been cut.
McGordon bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Poirie shoots in and drives through. McGordon sprawls well.
Poirie darts in looking for a takedown but McGordon gets double underhooks and turns Poirie into the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Our sources have told us that Poirie has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.

McGordon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Poirie's guard.

McGordon controls Poirie momentarily but Poirie frees himself.
McGordon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Poirie!
Poirie wants to hold on but McGordon pushes him away.

McGordon with shots to the head and body - Poirie looks very uncomfortable down there.

McGordon looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Poor strikes thrown by McGordon there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
McGordon trying to control but Poirie is having none of it.
McGordon takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Poirie is squirming around, avoiding McGordon's attempts to control the action.
McGordon is landing with some decent strikes but Poirie is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Poor strikes thrown by McGordon there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGordon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Brian McGordon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McGordon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
