PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Henry Kissinger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ac Res (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Henry Kissinger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ac Res!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Res tries for a takedown but Kissinger circles away easily

and Kissinger counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kissinger.
Kissinger tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Res tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kissinger just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kissinger misses with a knee to the head.
Kissinger misses with some punches.
A short left from Kissinger.

Res's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kissinger tries to bum rush Res with a series of wild strikes but Res uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kissinger has been working on his boxing with his coaches at 11th Planet Fitness ($300/wk) in the buildup to the fight.
Kissinger misses with an uppercut.
Res shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kissinger as he jumps to the side.
Henry Kissinger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ac Res.
Kissinger cracks Res with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Kissinger looks to throw the jab but Res is out of range.
No luck for Res with that takedown attempt.
Kissinger displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Res.
Res slips a jab from Kissinger.
Res uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kissinger.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kissinger drops Res with a beautiful combination! Res stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Kissinger is looking for the KO!


It looks like Ac Res has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Res on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Kissinger swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Res holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Res gets control of Kissinger's arms and successfully pulls guard. Res will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Res wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Kissinger is now in half guard.
Res is trying to control but can't.
Res is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kissinger postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Res to stand up.
Kissinger cracks Res with a good jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Res fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Res dives in and grabs Kissinger's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kissinger pushes down on Res's head and hops out.
Res shoots in and drives through. Kissinger sprawls well.
Res fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kissinger avoids it really well and circles away.
Kissinger misses with a two punch combination.
Res showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kissinger.
Res shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kissinger but Kissinger pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Res takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Res fails with a takedown attempt.

Res shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kissinger wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kissinger trying to hold on to Res's head to control him but Res postures up.
Res looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Kissinger tries to get to full guard but Res has control of the leg.

Res is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kissinger doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Res.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Res controlling the pace.
Res wants to pass the guard but Kissinger is defending well.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Res wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kissinger keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Henry Kissinger dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Ac Res's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Nice uppercut lands for Kissinger. That snapped Res's head back.
Kissinger throws a good cross that connects.
Kissinger scores with a crisp jab that stopped Res in his tracks.

and Res counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Res is still on wobbly legs! Can Kissinger finish him?
Kissinger misses with an uppercut. Res saw that one coming.
Res doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kissinger counters by moving into the clinch.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Res jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kissinger walks away with a smile on his face. Res gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Henry Kissinger is winning the standup battle so far.
Res keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kissinger.
Some wild striking there from Kissinger.
No joy there for Kissinger, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Res avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kissinger throws a right and a left that Res avoids nicely.
Res drops his hands momentarily and Kissinger needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Res just on the top of the head. Res drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Res - he's done!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Henry Kissinger!
After winning the bout, Henry Kissinger thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
