Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Delmar Mullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodolfo Vieira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira darts in looking for a takedown but Mullen gets double underhooks and turns Vieira into the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Mullen manages to break the clinch.
A head kick misses from Vieira.
Mullen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mullen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vieira is fending him off so far but Mullen persists. Nope, Vieira circles away and we're back to standing.

Vieira closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Vieira stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Vieira shoots in and drives through. Mullen sprawls well.

Mullen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Vieira is fending him off so far but Mullen persists. Nope, Vieira circles away and we're back to standing.

and Vieira counters with a single leg into guard. Mullen didn't expect that.
Mullen is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Vieira counters with a takedown into side control.
Vieira has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mullen gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Vieira fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mullen, pushing him back against the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mullen is pressed up against the cage. Vieira has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mullen down to the mat. Mullen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Vieira tries a head kick but it misses.
Mullen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vieira circles away.
Rodolfo Vieira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vieira shoots in and gets a takedown into Mullen's guard.
Vieira working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Vieira stands and throws Mullen's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mullen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Vieira closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vieira thows a huge punch but Mullen dodges it nicely.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mullen won't allow Vieira to pass to mount.

Vieira's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Mullen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rodolfo Vieira wasn't active enough on the ground.

Vieira wants to free his trapped foot but Mullen is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Vieira is working for a kimura but Mullen is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vieira thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mullen's head.

Vieira is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Still in half guard, Vieira seems content to control.
Mullen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vieira on the ground.

Vieira is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mullen sees it coming and defends easily.
Vieira content to control rather than advance.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Rodolfo Vieira was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rodolfo Vieira showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mullen is trying to maintain the position but Vieira is very close to passing his half guard.
Vieira perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Mullen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vieira avoids it really well and circles away.
Mullen darts in looking for a takedown but Vieira gets double underhooks and turns Mullen into the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Vieira wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mullen has him pressed against the cage.

Vieira wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Mullen is trying to break the clinch but Vieira is controlling him.
Vieira misses with a hook to the ribs.

Mullen jumps guard and drags Vieira to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Vieira is pushing down on Mullen's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mullen is fighting to maintain full guard but Vieira has managed to sneak the leg through.

Vieira decides to return to a standing position.

Mullen is rocked!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Delmar Mullen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vieira is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Oh Mullen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mullen avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Vieira.
Mullen seems to have got his legs back now.

Vieira decides to stand back up.

Vieira shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mullen manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Vieira is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Let's hope that Vieira has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rodolfo Vieira hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Vieira is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vieira controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Well Vieira has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
