PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bubba Bubba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Brickley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brickley has chosen Seek N Destroy as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bubba Bubba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Brickley!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brickley lands a glancing blow to the side of Bubba's head.
Bubba moves away from the strike by Brickley.
Bubba looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Bubba slips under a jab.
Brickley clobbers Bubba with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brickley closes the distance and pushes Bubba back into the cage.
Brickley will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bubba up against the cage.
Brickley tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Brickley breaks the clinch.
Brickley scores with a jab.
Brickley scores with a sloppy right hand. Bubba should have avoided that one.
Nice takedown defense from Bubba. No joy for Brickley on that attempt.

Bubba gets a takedown into half guard.
Brickley is trying to get back to full guard.

Brickley trying to control but Bubba postures up.
Brickley tries to roll over but Bubba keeps him under control.

Bubba is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brickley doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bubba.
Brickley has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Brickley misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Bubba seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brickley does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bubba is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brickley is just riding it out for now. Bubba eventually gives up the hold.
Brickley is refusing to be controlled, as Bubba sits in half guard.

Brickley actively working from the bottom here.
Bubba lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Bubba is trying to control. Brickley wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Brickley tries to kick Bubba off but Bubba keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Brickley tries to get to full guard but Bubba has control of the leg.
Brickley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Bubba decides to stand up.
Nice straight punches there by Brickley. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Brickley.
Brickley uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bubba has time to react.
A low kick from Brickley misses

so Bubba counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bubba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brickley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brickley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Brickley is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bubba is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Brickley keeping moving, preventing Bubba from controlling successfully.
Bubba is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

We're going to have a standup here because Bubba Bubba wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Brickley tries to clinch up but Bubba circles away and keeps his distance.
Bubba drops his hands momentarily and Brickley takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Brickley scores with a jab. Bubba acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Bill Brickley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Brickley scores with the left hand. Bubba knows he should have avoided that one.
Brickley misses with a straight right.
A looping hook to the body misses from Brickley. Bubba does a little dance to reset his feet.
Brickley wants to clinch but Bubba slips to the side

and Bubba counters with a nice double leg into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bill Brickley dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Brickley throws a jab when Bubba was well out of range.
Brickley's jab looks to have found its range, popping Bubba under the eye.
Brickley misses with a straight right.
Bubba takes one to the chin there.
Jab, jab by Brickley - just one landing.
Bubba shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brickley as he avoids it easily.
Brickley might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Bubba closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bubba tries for a kimura but Brickley is defending well.
Brickley trying his best to control but Bubba has mounted him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brickley is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bubba wants to control the pace but Brickley is squirming around nicely.

Brickley defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Bubba.
Brickley is trying to escape the mount.
Bubba looking to control but Brickley is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Brickley wants to hold on but Bubba pushes him away.
Brickley tries to reverse the position but Bubba maintains control.
Bubba looking to control and managing it successfully.
Bubba postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Brickley looks a forlorn figure.

Brickley is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Bubba fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

It looks like Bill Brickley has been cut.
Bubba Bubba overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Brickley is in a horrible position here. Bubba smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Brickley tries to reverse the position but Bubba maintains control.

Bubba content to control rather than advance.
Bubba is thwarting Brickley's attempts to control the position.
Brickley looks like he's trying to stand up.

Brickley is looking for a sweep. Bubba is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Brickley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bubba's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bubba's back!
Brickley is trying to stick to Bubba's back but Bubba is turning into Brickley. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Brickley's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bubba.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bubba Bubba will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Bill Brickley's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Bubba walks into a stiff left hand from Brickley.
Bill Brickley seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Bubba shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brickley as he jumps to the side.
Brickley works the jab nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bubba is defended easily by Brickley.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Brickley connects with a right hand. Bubba shakes it off.


Bubba is rocked!

Brickley feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Bubba sprawling to the canvas! Bubba rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Brickley finish him?!
Oh Bubba is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brickley is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Bubba flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Bubba is out cold! Brickley holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bill Brickley!
