PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rox Santa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jim Beam looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jim Beam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rox Santa!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santa misses with a double jab.
Santa slips under a jab from Beam.
Santa fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Santa clinches up with Beam and pushes him back against the cage.

Santa manages to break the clinch.
Santa darts in looking for a takedown but Beam gets double underhooks and turns Santa into the cage.

Santa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Santa tries to close the distance and clinch but Beam swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Santa has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Santa wants to clinch up but Beam keeps it at a distance.
Beam could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Santa tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Beam manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Santa takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like Jim Beam has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Santa drives through and clinches with Beam against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Santa.
Beam looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Beam keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Santa's efforts to push away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Santa on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Beam goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Beam doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Beam tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Santa's elbow.
Beam tries to land knees in the clinch but Santa avoids the damage to the body.

Santa gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Beam avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Beam had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Santa defends it easily.
Beam has a closed guard, preventing Santa from standing up.

Beam looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Santa has picked Beam up and slammed him! Beam can't keep hold of the triangle and Santa manages to pass to side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beam tries to buck Santa off but Santa is having none of it.
Santa misses with the ground and pound.

Beam is looking to reverse the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
An elbow from Santa crashes against the mat.
The strikes coming from Santa are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Santa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Santa throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Santa throws an elbow but Beam slips to the side and avoids it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beam wants to control but Santa postures up.
Santa throws a strike aimed at the side of Beam's head but Beam avoids it well.

Santa looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Beam is avoiding damage well.
Santa throws an elbow but Beam slips to the side and avoids it well.
Beam struggling a bit here.
Beam is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Beam is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Santa misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Santa is looking to take a break and control but Beam is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Beam tries to bench press Santa off him but Santa keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beam avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Santa.
Beam wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Santa tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Beam controls the position for a moment.
Santa creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Beam sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Beam striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rox Santa dominated that round.

Rox Santa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Santa moves in close and cracks Beam with a massive right hand! Beam, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Santa!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rox Santa!
During a confident post fight interview, Rox Santa thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
