PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Curry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raul Pendragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Arthur Curry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Raul Pendragon!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Curry tries to clinch but Pendragon is having none of it.
Pendragon throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
No joy there for Pendragon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A slapping leg kick lands for Pendragon.
Pendragon throws the kick towards the body but Curry avoids it.

Pendragon darts in and clinches Curry up against the cage.

Pendragon breaks from the clinch.
Pendragon looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Pendragon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Curry is breathing heavily.
Curry tries to buck Pendragon off but Pendragon is having none of it.
Curry is not content to let Pendragon control the position.
Curry is trying to improve his position.

Pendragon decides to stand back up.
Raul Pendragon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pendragon tests Curry's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pendragon moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Pendragon misses the shot to the body.
Curry looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Curry wants to control from the top but Pendragon keeps moving.
Pendragon pulls Curry in close to prevent any damage.

Curry wants to pass the guard but Pendragon is keeping the position.
Curry throwing strikes but missing.
Pendragon is trying to control the position but Curry postures up.
Curry is stalling in the full guard.
Curry throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pendragon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Curry looking to sit in guard and control but Pendragon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Pendragon wants to stand but Curry has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Curry is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pendragon controls from within his opponent's guard.
Pendragon trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Curry can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pendragon controls the pace.

Pendragon gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Curry drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Pendragon wants to stand up but Curry is controlling him.
Pendragon keeping moving, preventing Curry from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raul Pendragon dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pendragon tries to clinch but Curry is having none of it.
Curry slips a straight right by Pendragon.
Arthur Curry is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Curry shoots in and drives through. Pendragon sprawls well.
Curry scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Pendragon rushes Curry and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Curry tries for a takedown but Pendragon manages to get underhooks.

Pendragon lands a nice looking kick to the body. Curry takes a step back to recover.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Curry fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pendragon sprawls well initially but Curry persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Pendragon is controlling Curry's trapped leg to prevent Curry from advancing to side control.
Pendragon is staying active underneath Curry, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Curry not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Curry thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Pendragon's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Curry connects with a nice short shot to Pendragon's temple.

Curry decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Curry tries to clinch there but Pendragon circles away.
Curry fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Pendragon checks it well.
Curry throws a head kick but Pendragon moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Pendragon as Curry shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arthur Curry. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Curry wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Curry tries for a takedown. No joy.
Curry jumps guard but Pendragon stands there with Curry around his waist. Curry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Curry jumps guard but Pendragon stands there with Curry around his waist. Curry gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Pendragon lands with a light punch inside.
Pendragon tries to land a knee to the head but Curry blocks with his arms.

Curry has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Pendragon clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Raul Pendragon seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Curry scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Raul Pendragon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Arthur Curry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pendragon wants to get back to his feet but Curry is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Pendragon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
