PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nelson Adeleye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adeleye's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Last of the Mohicans. James has chosen Dualing Banjos as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nelson Adeleye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frank James!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adeleye clobbers James with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Adeleye looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Adeleye just misses with a punch to the body.
James moves out of range of the strikes.
Adeleye dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Adeleye connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed James momentarily.

James scores with a takedown into Adeleye's guard.

Adeleye has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes James off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Adeleye looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Adeleye tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Adeleye to the ground. Adeleye escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

James is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James stands and throws Adeleye's legs to the side, diving into side control.
James connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Adeleye some visible discomfort.
James is looking to take a break and control but Adeleye is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Adeleye is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by James.

James uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Adeleye.

That's time! Adeleye's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Adeleye is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Adeleye circles away and we're back to standing.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Adeleye but Adeleye pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Adeleye stuns James with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

James is looking to control Adeleye's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

James shoots for a double leg takedown but Adeleye sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Adeleye had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. James is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Adeleye Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take James's back instead.

James manages to reverse the position and now he's in Adeleye's guard. Nice work there by James.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nelson Adeleye.
Well Adeleye has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
