Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jim Carlo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kermit Earlandson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is NFG-Anthem for the Unwanted. Earlandson comes into a darkened arena with his song building. the theme from titanic kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Carlo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kermit Earlandson!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlo moves into range and clinches up with Earlandson.

Carlo breaks from the clinch.
Earlandson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carlo defends it nicely.
Earlandson shoots in for a double leg but Carlo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Earlandson tries to keep at a distance but Carlo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Carlo scores with a nice hook to the head.

Earlandson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Carlo throws the kick towards the body but Earlandson avoids it.

Carlo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Earlandson on his heels. He'll look to pass Earlandson's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Carlo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Earlandson manages to get to full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carlo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Earlandson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Carlo is aware though and is defending well.
Carlo wants to get up but he can't break Earlandson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Carlo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Earlandson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carlo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Earlandson has his foot on Carlo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carlo works his way back into a safe position though.

Carlo stands and steps away. Earlandson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Earlandson wants to control but Carlo is keeping him busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Earlandson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Carlo knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Earlandson is working to tighten his grip on Carlo's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Carlo has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Earlandson is really squeezing tight and eventually Carlo passes out! Earlandson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Kermit Earlandson!
A relieved looking Kermit Earlandson thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
