Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jeff Glover!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fabio Vendetta!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vendetta uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Vendetta throws an overhand right that lands on Glover's shoulder, as Glover tries to avoid the shot.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vendetta has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Vendetta throws a leg kick but Glover sees it coming and moves out of range.
Vendetta thows a body shot but no joy.
Vendetta tries to clinch up.
Glover takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Glover goes for a double leg but Vendetta avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vendetta continues to drive forward.
Vendetta makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Vendetta tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Glover's elbow.
Vendetta lands with a short head shot on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Vendetta fails to land.
Nice body punch from Vendetta - that landed with a thud.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Vendetta throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Vendetta gets underhooks to prevent Glover's takedown attempt.
Glover tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vendetta smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Glover. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Vendetta drops Glover with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Glover looks back up at him and smiles so Vendetta waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Vendetta punishes Glover's body with a nice straight punch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vendetta throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Vendetta throws a leg kick but Glover sees it coming and moves out of range.
Vendetta feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Glover sprawling to the canvas! Glover rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Vendetta finish him?!
Glover is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Vendetta knocks Glover out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Fabio Vendetta!
