Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cat McHatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Playdough Guido (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McHatt's entrance music is MAINEIAC. A fine choice. Playdough Guido has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McHatt shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McHatt showed some decent athleticism there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Guido can do anything to dispel that myth.
McHatt throwing shots but Guido is blocking nicely.
Guido is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McHatt is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Guido forces McHatt back against the cage and clinches.
Guido lands with a left to the head.
McHatt is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Guido pulls him back up using the underhooks.
McHatt blocks an uppercut.
McHatt drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Guido gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Guido swings wildly with an uppercut but McHatt uses good head movement to avoid it.

McHatt lands a head kick. Guido smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

McHatt goes for a takedown attempt but Guido pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Playdough Guido seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Guido.

and McHatt counters with a series of strikes. Guido will be more careful next time no doubt.

Guido really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McHatt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McHatt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Guido shoots in for a double leg but McHatt sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

McHatt tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Guido paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Guido flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Guido can't escape the position.
Guido wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Even with his hooks in, McHatt manages to miss with strikes from the back.
McHatt is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. McHatt gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. McHatt gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. McHatt apologises and we restart here on the feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cat McHatt.
