PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael MacRoberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keiji Kawada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MacRoberts comes to the cage accompanied by God Save the Queen by The Sex Pistols. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 21 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael MacRoberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 15 - 1, fighting out of London, Keiji Kawada!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacRoberts catches Kawada with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

MacRoberts moves into range and clinches up with Kawada.
Come on Kawada - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

MacRoberts's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kawada tries to close the distance and clinch but MacRoberts swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kawada takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
MacRoberts tries to bum rush Kawada with a series of wild strikes but Kawada uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A punch combination from MacRoberts misses.
Kawada wants to land a leg kick but MacRoberts is out of range.
MacRoberts lands with a nice combination. Kawada backs away looking to recover.
MacRoberts looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Kawada manages to get an easy takedown there - catching MacRoberts on his heels. He'll look to pass MacRoberts's guard now, I'm sure.

MacRoberts is looking to stand up but Kawada isn't so interested in that idea.

Kawada working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. MacRoberts doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. MacRoberts manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


MacRoberts lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
MacRoberts will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kawada tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. MacRoberts manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

MacRoberts lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kawada circles away quickly and effectively.

MacRoberts fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
MacRoberts's corner calls for a 1-2. MacRoberts obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Kawada throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. MacRoberts tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kawada is in MacRoberts's guard.
Kawada sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed MacRoberts's guard.
Kawada is trying to control. MacRoberts wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
MacRoberts on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if MacRoberts tries to get out of the position.

MacRoberts kicks off Kawada and gets to his feet.

Kawada drops his hands momentarily and MacRoberts takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
MacRoberts clobbers Kawada with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Kawada dives in and grabs MacRoberts's left leg, looking for a takedown. MacRoberts pushes down on Kawada's head and hops out.
Michael MacRoberts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keiji Kawada.

Kawada shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kawada was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Kawada is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. MacRoberts looks calm but he's in trouble here. Kawada gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. MacRoberts is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Kawada lets go of the hold and MacRoberts can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Keiji Kawada!
A loyal slave to those sponsorship dollars, Keiji Kawada made sure he mentioned KAISER, along with how happy he was to win his fight.
In defeat, Michael MacRoberts stepped up to the mic, saying 'Where's my Guinness, yo bitches'.
