The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Galvao fails to land the takedown.
Galvao shoots in but Ness avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Elliot Ness seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ness moves into the clinch.
Ness makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Ness obliges.
Galvao looking to stall.
Ness lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Ness tries to land a knee to the head but Galvao blocks with his arms.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Galvao in particular looking to stall.

Galvao postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ness to stand up.

Galvao blocks a head kick by Ness.
Galvao tries to close the distance and clinch but Ness swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ness gets caught napping as Galvao dives in and scores a takedown. Ness manages to retain guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Galvao stands and steps away. Ness gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ness throws a sloppy head kick and Galvao moves out of range easily.
Ness is breathing heavily.
Nice shot lands for Ness.

Galvao has Ness up against the cage in a clinch.
Galvao jumps guard but Ness turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Elliot Ness has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andre Galvao.
Galvao on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Ness breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Galvao changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ness looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Ness is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Galvao is controlling him well.

Galvao has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ness is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Galvao yanks on the arm and Ness is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Galvao.
