The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Romero. No joy for Sonnen on that attempt.
Sonnen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Romero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sonnen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sonnen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sonnen passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sonnen wants to free his trapped foot but Romero is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sonnen is working for a kimura but Romero is defending it quite comfortably.
Sonnen is looking for a kimura but Romero is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sonnen to get the leverage.

Sonnen seems to be looking for submissions.
Sonnen is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Romero is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
