Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jay Pettis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathin Horvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Horvin has chosen Bodies by Drowning Pool as his entrance music. Jonathin Horvin looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonathin Horvin!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, David Schapiro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Horvin.
Horvin looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Horvin connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Pettis momentarily.
Pettis looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Horvin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Horvin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Pettis counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Horvin tries to clinch there but Pettis circles away.
Horvin moves in looking to clinch but Pettis pushes him off.
Horvin shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Pettis defends it nicely.
Horvin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Horvin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pettis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pettis slaps away a takedown attempt from Horvin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jay Pettis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathin Horvin.
Horvin looks winded!

Horvin has managed to clinch.
Pettis is trying to break the clinch but Horvin has him pressed against the cage.
Pettis tries to circle away but Horvin has him pinned against the cage.
Pettis is looking to break free of the clinch but Horvin has double underhooks.

Horvin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Horvin.

Nice takedown defense from Pettis. No joy for Horvin on that attempt.

Horvin looks for a takedown but Pettis sprawls well.
Jonathin Horvin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pettis leaves Horvin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Horvin closes the distance and clinches up with Pettis, looking for a takedown. Horvin pushes Pettis against the cage but Pettis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Horvin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Pettis keeps the fight on the outside.

Horvin throws a sloppy head kick and Pettis moves out of range easily.
Horvin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Pettis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Horvin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pettis sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Horvin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pettis tries to avoid it but Horvin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pettis to the ground. Pettis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Horvin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pettis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pettis stuffs the takedown attempt from Horvin. Horvin gets slowly back to his feet.
Horvin wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pettis is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Horvin is just riding it out for now. Pettis eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pettis is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Horvin gets full guard.

Horvin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pettis defends it easily.
Pettis tries to free his leg and advance position but Horvin is retaining full guard.

Pettis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pettis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Pettis is fighting to break Horvin's control of his arms but Horvin is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Horvin lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Horvin throws a head kick but Pettis moves out of range.
Horvin throws a right hand that Pettis ducks under and follows up with a left that Pettis also avoids with ease.
Horvin tries to clinch there but Pettis circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Horvin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pettis but Pettis pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Horvin shoots in looking for a takedown. Pettis tries to sprawl out of it but Horvin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pettis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jay Pettis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathin Horvin.
Horvin takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fight stays on the outside here - Horvin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pettis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Horvin tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pettis defends well and Horvin ends up having to push Pettis into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Pettis.

Horvin ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Horvin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Pettis drops back looking for a leg! Horvin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Horvin manages to kick Pettis off! Pettis jumps back into Horvin's guard.

Pettis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pettis postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Horvin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pettis, into his guard.

Pettis has his foot on Horvin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Horvin works his way back into a safe position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pettis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Horvin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Pettis looking for subs off his back but Horvin has passed one foot through into half guard.
Pettis wants to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Pettis showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Pettis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
