The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith falls off balance throwing a combination
and Chovanec counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Smith throws a left and a right that both miss
and Chovanec counters with a nice body shot.
Smith drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Chovanec stalks Smith and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smith's face. Smith staggers backwards, shaken.
Chovanec connects with the punch.
Chovanec lands a jab to the nose.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Chovanec counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chovanec goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Chovanec counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
A bone on bone clash there as Chovanec blocks the leg kick.
Chovanec lands a nice shot that snaps Smith's head back.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chovanec circles away quickly and effectively.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Chovanec counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Chovanec creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Chovanec lands a strong strike to the head of Smith. That's dazed him! Chovanec looking to finish here. Smith is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Chovanec lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
