Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pedro Alvarez !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yank Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lewis tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lewis takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
It looks like Pedro Alvarez has been cut.
Lewis looks to land a combination but Alvarez avoids it well.
Alvarez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Lewis to counter with a crisp jab.
Lewis lands a head shot.
Pedro Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alvarez takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Alvarez slips a jab and a cross from Lewis.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lewis misses with a double jab.
Alvarez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Lewis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lewis connects with a body shot that sends Alvarez 's belly button to the back.
Lewis clinches.
Alvarez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lewis gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pedro Alvarez . That's going to take a lot out of him.
Alvarez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Alvarez is keen to just control but Lewis is a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lewis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Alvarez stands up and beckons Lewis to join him on the feet.
Lewis has Alvarez up against the cage in a clinch.
Alvarez gets control of Lewis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Alvarez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Lewis has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Alvarez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lewis is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Alvarez pulls down on the head and he's put Lewis to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Pedro Alvarez !
